You Have a Dependable Guide
Our Foundational Scripture (FS), is taken from John 16: 13 (AMP), “But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].”
Beloved, situations arise in life that warrants asking questions. One needs to ask questions to avoid mistakes. One needs to as questions to avoid frustration and disaster. One needs to ask questions to get clarification. One needs to ask questions to understand issues. One needs to ask questions to get directions etc. Are you still standing?
Beloved, are you a human being? You must of necessity, ask questions sometimes. The issue is *who is dependable enough to satisfy your curiosity?* There is an account of a man that owns a shop by a 0taxi park in a certain town. Travellers always asked him questions about their destination. They want to know the distance from there and the kind of people that live in such a town. He always responded with a question. He would ask the traveller : *What kind of people do you think you will find there?* Whatever they answered, he will tell them they will find many of such people there. So he answered them according to their mindset. What do you call that kind of guide? Are you till standing?
Beloved, when NYSC posting came out in my final year in the University, my roommate and I asked a friend from the North who was also graduating about the condition in northern states we were posted to. He responded mischievously. First to my roommate who was posted to Borno State, he said *he was not going to find it easy for the Sun would turn his colour to be darker than charcoal*. I fell on the ground as I laughed at my roommate. Are you still standing?
Beloved, our friend nicknamed, *Plain Paper* then turned to me and said *you that is laughing, your posting, Niger State, is even worst than Borno.* He said : *there are no hotels in Niger State but only a few bukaterias and worst still, they serve only black soup.* Then my countenance dropped and I became depressed. How does black soup look like? How can I ever eat such? I went to Niger State with such prejudice that I never bothered to verify that information. Are you still standing?
Beloved, luckily as I hit the NYSC Camp in Minna, three of my female classmates had settled down and they fed me for the next three days. The food offered by NYSC Secretariat was a washout that my cornermate from Onitsha said we should locate Igbo traders in town to ask for direction where we could be eating. Truly we did locate them and they led us to a restuarant operated by an Igbo couple. We ate there for the rest of the Camp days. *Those traders were good guides*. Are you still standing?
Beloved, when God arrested me and I got filled with the Holy Spirit in 1989, I discovered that He is the *dependable Guide* every genuine Believer needs. He never fails and His leading is perfect. Our Lord Jesus enjoined us to get hooked to Him in our FS. Prior to my knowing Him, I could travel from Ilorin to Lagos and hit real disappointments. The people I went to see would not be available. But when I began to tap into the Ministry of the Holy Spirit, I would tell Him my intention of going to Lagos. He would suggest a date and time and I never regretted afterwards. Are you still standing?
Beloved, the Holy Spirit is given to guide us into *every truth.* What He does is not limited to studying the Holy Bible. He can teach you any subject and always remind you of what He had taught you. Meditate on our Memory verse ahead. I used to tell my children(biological and spiritual) that if I had truly known Jesus earlier in life, that *I would have been one of the best brains in the world.* I had obtained my doctorate degree and began lecturing when God arrested me, September 8,1988. Are you still standing?
Beloved, I began to watch my life in Form 3 at the Secondary School. I played alot but during examinations, I saw *live question papers in my dream.* In the morning, I will have time enough to prepare for only three questions. In the examination hall, I will strike out the two questions I did not prepare for and focus on the remaining three. Are you still standing?
Beloved, this trend continued till I wrote the last paper at the M.Sc. level in 1982. Even when I did not know Him then, He was still faithful. When I later tapped into His Ministry, I had control over job interviews I attended. I determined two foolish questions they would ask me and panelists always bowed to them. Are you still standing?
1. Thank God for His Word and ask the Holy Spirit to expound it to you.
2. Peradventure you do not know the Holy Spirit pray for His presence in your life. John 14:17, Luke 13:11.
3. You may have been filled but you do not engage Him. Ask for forgiveness and ask Him to take absolute control of your life (Romans 8:14,16).
Thank God Who always answers all you pray for in Jesus most favourable name, Amen. *MEMORY VERSE.* “But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.”(John 14:26, AMP). Have a pleasant weekend. RFWO= Rock Foundation World Outreach.
